We are pleased to announce this year’s NC3Rs CRACK IT Challenges 2014 launch event will take place on 12 September in central London.
The 2014 CRACK IT Challenges competition consists of three Challenges identified jointly by the NC3Rs and Sponsors. This year the competition is funded by the NC3Rs and supported by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB). There are seven Sponsors (Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline, Abbvie, Sanofi, BASF, Shell and Dow Agrosciences).
The Challenges are detailed in the Challenge briefs which include a description of the problem to be solved, the 3Rs benefits, the names of the Sponsors and the nature of their proposed in-kind contributions, the notional financial cost of the project (the sum to be awarded by the NC3Rs), the potential timescale of the work and proposals for the organisation of the project . The 2014 Challenges are listed below:
- Neuratect: Development of high-throughput in vitro models to better predict CNS safety liabilities (sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline, BASF, Sanofi and Abbvie)
- Targeting off-targets: Off-target chemical-receptor interactions (sponsored by Unilever and Dow Agrosciences)
- QSARs mix: Computer based prediction using structural alerts to assess toxicity endpoints (sponsored by Shell)
A draft agenda can be found here.
The meeting will consist of introductory talks on CRACK IT and open innovation in the current economic landscape.
There will also be Challenge surgeries where Sponsors will introduce their specific Challenge and answer questions from registrants and potential applicants. Each Challenge surgery will be run twice, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Delegates will be able to attend a maximum of two Challenge surgeries during the event.
There will be a networking session where delegates have the opportunity to meet potential new collaborators and partners to solve the Challenges.
The launch event is free to attend but registration is essential.
Further details on the event and location will be sent to you following registration.
